How does Job Search Support work?
On your first meeting your Job Network Member will enter your résumé onto the JobSearch website. To allow for things to run smoothly, you should bring:

  • Any education certificates
  • Details of your work history
  • Names and contact details of references
  • Examples of job applications or other similar pages

How will I know if I've been matched to a job?
JobSearch will automatically notify you of any job matches through:

  • Your personal Internet page
  • Your email account
  • Telephone message bank
  • Short message service (SMS - if you have a mobile phone)
  • Your Job Network Member will help you choose and set up an option for how you want to be notified about any job matches from JobSearch.

What is Intensive Support?
If you have not found work after three (3) months your Job Network Member will use more resources to help you find a job. Intensive Support provides one-to-one assistance to help you get and keep a job.

What is a Job Search Plan?
Together with your Job Network Member you will work out what can be done to improve your success in finding work.

What is Job Search Training?
Your Job Network Member will discuss with you which areas of your job search skills may need improving. Then you and your Job Network Member will work out a program tailored for you to build up those skills. This may include help with:

  • Application writing
  • Updating your résumé
  • How to improve your interviewing skills
  • How to demonstrate your skills to employers
  • Building your self confidence
  • Exploring new work areas where your experience can be used

Job Search Training usually runs over fifteen (15) days. However, if you have part-time work or study commitment or get sick, it can be extended by up to five (5) days. If you are an Indigenous or mature age job seeker (aged 50 years or more) you may volunteer for Job Search Training as soon as you are eligible for Newstart or Youth Allowance from Centrelink.
